Praktisk information
Plats: Ortomed Göteborg, Norra Allégatan 8, 413 01 Göteborg (visa på karta)
Tider: 09:00-16:00 båda dagarna. Kom gärna 15 minuter innan första dagen för registrering.
Utrustning: Ultraljudsutrustning finns på plats - du behöver inte ta med egen maskin. Kläder som gör axeln lätt att komma åt underlättar de praktiska momenten.

A two-day advanced course in ultrasound scanning of the shoulder for clinicians who work with shoulder patients. The course has been developed together with shoulder surgeons and radiologists.
Course leader Magnus Wennerlund has worked with shoulder diagnostics for 22 years, the last 13 of them with ultrasound scanning exclusively of shoulder patients - in hospitals, private orthopaedic clinics and radiology departments. He has also performed ultrasound examinations in clinical studies and taught healthcare professionals at shoulder units, radiology departments and in primary care.
Course content
- Detailed assessment of the rotator cuff, the rotator interval and the biceps tendon
- Grading and interpretation of rotator cuff tears, fatty infiltration and atrophy
- Which patients should be referred to an orthopaedic surgeon and which can be treated conservatively
- What an ultrasound report should include
- Limitations of ultrasound in assessing the glenohumeral joint and labrum - when to add MRI or MR arthrography
- Fractures in the shoulder region
- The postoperative shoulder - typical findings after rotator cuff repair and other shoulder surgery
- AC joint dislocations and the role of ultrasound compared with plain radiography
- A short introduction to ultrasound-guided shoulder injections
Teaching format
The course combines case studies from Magnus's clinical practice, demonstrations on a model, supervised hands-on scanning and structured theory. The group is limited to 12 participants so that everyone gets supervision during the practical training.
Who the course is for
Licensed healthcare professionals who work with shoulder patients: general practitioners, orthopaedic surgeons, radiologists, rheumatologists, physiotherapists, sonographers, naprapaths and chiropractors.
Prerequisites: basic knowledge of musculoskeletal ultrasound scanning. The course is at an advanced level.
